Vancouver - Canada

 Vancouver Island

Riiiing said the alarm clock at 6 o’clock am. After a great day in Vancouver it was time to go on our third vacation in one month. This time it was to Vancouver Island with Inger and Aksel.

We had all herd great things about Vancouver Island and were looking forward to visiting it. The sailing trip was amazing even though we didn’t spend the time looking at all the islands we were passing, but instead we were competing over who could solve a sudoku the fastest (hmm… I was the slowest…Damn).

After the arrival to Nanaimo (with a seal swimming besides the boat) we drove off aiming at Tofino, a small village at the Pacific Ocean. On the way to Tofino we stopped at some very old cedar trees (about 800 years old).

The old trees and the dense forest were very enchanting.

The next stop on the way was at a little creek with rocks and falls.

The rest of the trip we did in one stop and arrived in Tofino and after a while we found a room where we could stay the night.

It was a nice little apartment in a nice house located at a nice little street very close to a VERY NICE beach.

The beach was absolutely amazing. Surfer’s paradise – no doubt.

Dinner time was spent at the peer in company of lots of clams, mussels and craps. Very nice eh!

Coffee and tea was enjoyed in our little apartment and we went to the beach to see the sun go down. Incredible – even more beautiful than a sunset at Ahl.

We ended the day with a whiskey and a glass of red wine accompanied by a card game called asshole (Røvhul) where Aksel very firmly dictated the rules, even though he didn’t know them J.

The next morning Aksel decided to show the Canadians what the Danes are made of… He went swimming, but not like the surfers in a dry suit!!! I looked very cold, but he claimed that it was nice… crazy eh!!

We had to move from the B&B to another one. That didn’t really matter as the new one was just as nice as the old. After we’de settled down we went on a tour of the hood.

We started in the rainforest, which was very impressive and the we went for a long walk (5 km) from one beach:

With a lot of cliffs:

 across a forest

to a even nicer beach than the one we were staying at. Approximately 50 surfers were out there, and it looked so inviting!

After a cozy trip back again where we all were singing a song about a bird without balls.. or maybe it had balls – I don’t remember! We had a beer at a restaurant located on a cliff above the water. It was very beautiful! As we were getting hungry we went into Tofino “downtown” and had dinner at a great restaurant.

The rest of the evening was spent playing scrabble (Fy Aksel!!!).

The next morning the crazy Dane awoke again…

This time the beach was as beautiful as ever with a bit of a fog surrounding the cliffs.

. Unfortunately this morning also meant that the last day at Vancouver Island has arrived L  None of us wanted to go home…
