Vancouver - Canada

September 10th

Visitors from Denmark

About 15 days ago Inger and Aksel arrived at the airport and we were there to pick them up. We went into their hotel and dropped of all of their things and proceeded to Gastown for a beer and a burger (Aksels order - we just had to obey!).

After a bite to eat the jetlag caught up on the old folks and we split up. The next morning we ate breakfast together and planned the rest of the day. By the way I made pancakes with wild blackberries… Nice Eh!

To get a nice view of the city we started our day in the harbour centre lookout.

After the trip to the tower we really knew what we wanted to see so as soon as we came out the tower we walked to stanley park where we rented bikes.

Kan du gætte hvem det er... Anyway, as I've mentioned before you have to wear a helmet in Canada. This means that nobody - not even Aksel - can go without...

The trip around Stanley park is amazing. 10,5 km and you are riding next to the ocean all the way. On our ride we saw lots of crazy stuff including the man you see on the picture below making "buildings" of rocks, just by making them balance on each other. Crazy.

The weather was very nice. Sunny and 27 °C. A lot of people were playing on the water: wind surfing and sailing.

After a quick soda pop stop at a sail club we drove our bikes along Kitsilano beach to UBC and then we drove down to Denman st and returned the bikes. 5 hours this journey took and after walking back to Gastown from Denman st we were tired. But one has to eat so on we went. Now Yaletown was the main target of interest, because of the many restaurants in this very nice neighbourhood. We decided to eat at Yaletown brewing and we didn’t regret it.

Inger and I had a very nice pizza with X-large prawns and Rasmus and Aksel had a nice big steak.

After finishing dinner we decided to visit the tower once more to get a glimpse of the city a night and the guys wanted to pretend to be superman...hmmm...

We all fell in love with Vancouver evenmore than we had been before after this beautiful day.
